Liberate TV Producer Compact 1.1 authoring tools from Liberate Technologies speed up and simplify application development for digital set-top boxes.

The Liberate TV Producer Compact 1.1 tool set is designed for content developers who want to write Java technology-based applications for Liberate TV Navigator Compact client software. The Liberate microVM Application Environment enabling these applications includes a virtual machine able to run Java technology-based applications on basic digital set-top boxes.

The major features of Liberate TV Producer Compact 1.1 tools include rapid prototyping in a PC environment, tools to verify that Java technology-based applications run on a compact hardware platform, tools for file optimization and Java JAR file compression, and a complete Content Developer's Guide with a listing of APIs.

The hardware and software requirements for this tool kit include: Windows 98, 2000, or NT 4.0 with Service Pack 5 or higher; JDK 1.1.8 from Sun; and a minimum of 64MB RAM.

The Liberate TV Platform software enables cable, satellite, and telecommunications companies to deliver applications that integrate the Web's interactivity with TV-based content. Using open Internet and international broadcast standards, Liberate delivers a client and server platform that combines the Internet and television into one medium--enhanced TV.
