Android 4.0 ported to HP TouchPad Bernard Cole Palo Alto, Ca. – Despite the fact that Hewlett Packard has terminated support, independent developers have ported the latest version of Android to the discontinued TouchPad. After HP announced the discontinuation of the tablet this summer, the firm sold off its remaining stock in a fire sale, which has led users and developers with nothing better to do to find ways to convert them into cheap Android devices. Ported so far are CyanogenMod 7 Alphas one through three up on the the TouchPad, but with problematic audio and Wi-Fi. This new port, which tries to port Android 4.0 to the tablet, is not yet as stable as previous Alpha builds, but is already generating a lot of buzz on tech forums. A patch for making touch input work on the tablet has already been made available, with next priorities being builds that include Wi-Fi and Android Market support.
