Vancouver,
British Columbia -- Matrixstream, Ltd. has just introduced its I-MX
video on demand appliance for enabling delivery of TV, movies and video over the
IP network.
According to
Robert Liu, VP of Business Development and Marketing for Matrixstream, each I-MX
system is fully capable of supporting up to millions of users. "The total
amount of videos a provider can offer to subscribers is only limited by the
amount of disk storage that is available," he said.
The I-MX VOD
supports standard-based video codecs like MPEG4, WM9 and H.264 and is fully
capable of supporting all future new video codecs. He said it was designed with
full-tolerance to ensure the video-viewing experience is notinterrupted should
there be a system failure. It also incorporates end-to-end security
to protect content against Internet video piracy.
Unlike many VOD
systems today, he claims that the I-MX VOD system can operate over IP network
with as little as 1 Mbps of access speed, through the use of a
proprietary video buffering technology that allows viewing of DVD-quality
videos even over a wireless network.
Liu said the
company currently has 20 DVD-quality VOD channels with plans to launch 10
additional HD (High Definition) channels by the end ofthe year. Many of these
channels are exclusive to the VOD channel network and are available to service
providers who want to provide an instant channel lineup to
their subscribers.
