Las Vegas, nevada --. LSI Logic Corp.(Milpitas, Ca.) used the Consumer Electronics Show here to announce availablity of a set of video processing technologies, called DoMiNoX, aimed at a range of networked multimedia applications in consummer entertainment and connected iappliance systems to complement
its standard and custom IC capabilities in these markets.
Consisting of a set of patented video processing algorithms and technologies
that can either be expressed in software and executed with standard RISC and
DSP processors, or has hardwired functions incorporated into an advanced SoC.
The first functions included in the algorithm toolkit include: the TrueScan
Pro: Motion Compensated De-Interlacing (MCDI) algorithms for high quality
progressive scans in DVD and other media playback; the TrueViewPro
Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering (MCTF) algorithms for clearer
video for viewing and recording, from any analog or digital source; and .
PerfectViewPro, an MPEG compression technology for optimizing video quality
and increasing storage capacity, allowing more media content to be stored
- faster and at better quality - to a hard disk drive or DVD disk. It allows100%
digital format conversion for high quality conversion back and forth amongst
a wide variety of formats, including content from a digital (miniDV
and Digital 8) camcorder to a hard disk drive or DVD disk.
The DoMiNoFX algorithms have been incorporated into a number of LSI Logic
ICs aimed at a variety of digital entertainment devices such as DVD
players and recorders, digital and high-definition TVs, personal/digital video
recorders, video editing devices (PC) and set-top boxes. Among the ICs making
use of the algoritms include the previously announced DMN-8600 and DMN-8650.
