Monta Vista bulks up Linux for telecom, networking

Sunnyvale, Calif. - An upgraded version of the MontaVista Linux Professional Edition OS has been unleashed for developers of telecom, networking, and consumer communication designs.

Developed around the 2.4.18 Linux Kernel, release 3.0 provides IPv6 support, an XF5 journaling file system, as well as system- and user-level tracing capabilities for the MIPS, ARM, and XScale processor families.

An improved GNU tool chain is also provided with the new OS. This tool chain is based on the GDB 5.2 and GCC 3.2 spec. The new compiler provided in this tool chain delivers enhanced C++ support, making it easier to program the Linux OS.

Scheduled for release by the end of the year, pricing is handled on a subscription basis. starting at $25,000 for a three-seat license
