Amplify.net debuts Under $1,000 Multi-Homed WAN GatewaysBy Bernard Cole
Fremont, Ca. -- Amplify.net, Inc. has begun shipping a complete family of Multi-homed WAN Gateways designed specifically for branch offices and headquarters of small and mid-sized companies (SMEs).
With entry pricing that starts at $995, the iSurfJanus family consists of 3 major product categories and 8 product models aimed at a segment of the market company executives believe has largely remained untapped, namely branch offices and SMEs.
According to Didier Cop, Amplify.net's Vice President of Marketing, for such users, business is critically dependent on uninterrupted communications with headquarters and therefore, preventing WAN instability is becoming an urgent necessity.
The iSurfJanus Product Family integrates advanced WAN backup and dynamic load balancing functions with firewall and VPN plus other critical WAN gateway features. It combines inexpensive high-speed broadband connections with traditional Frame Relay or T1 lines, while seamlessly balancing inbound and outbound traffic even when multiple ISPs are deployed.
In today's Internet-driven world, said Cop, a company practically ceases to function whenever its network is down. “hen WAN failure occurs, all external communications come to a painful halt,” he said. “WAN failure, either direct access problems or ISP infrastructure failure, is no longer an option for any business.”
"The concept of Multi-WAN Gateway is to enable companies to combine multiple public and/or private WAN links connected to the same or different ISPs, to provide WAN backup plus dynamic load balancing of in- and outbound traffic," said Pauline Lo Alker, President and CEO of Amplify.net. “The approach we have taken integrates all critical gateway functions such as NAT, DHCP and static routing together with VPN and firewall for privacy and security."
The iSurfJanus family includes three (3) product categories, the CX, DX and RX. Targeted at small branche and remote offices, the CX is packaged in a compact set-top enclosure and supports two public and private WAN lines of different access technologies, with 10 Mbps downstream and 4 Mbps upstream throughput. VPN and firewall functions are optional.
The DX are identical to the CX except for throughput, with support a total throughput of 60 Mbps (30 down & 30 up). It is designed for medium-sized branch offices with very high speed WAN connections.
Distinct from the two other families the iSurfJanus RX is designed to be installed as a Multi-WAN gateway with support for up to three 100 Mbps WAN ports, in a high performance 19" rack-mount enclosure. For an additional measure of reliability, the RX offers a self-failure bypass option.
All CX and RX Models are available for shipment now.
