SandCherry Intros New Voice-enabling SoftServerBy Bernard Cole
Using standard servers enhanced with its advanced software components allows a range of providers and users of network services from the SOHO to the corporate office to integrate new applications with existing services and networks.
Available off-the-shelf, its key component - the Intelligent Control Module(tm) (ICM) - allows the use of cell phones, PDAs and other mobile devices to view color video clips, hear streaming audio clips, hear reading news, filling in online forms by voice entry as well as voice based access of work-related applications, or downloading maps.
It is designed to integrate disparate service elements such as speech recognition engines, Text-to-Speech (TTS) servers (now including AT&T Natural Voices and Elan Speech Cube and also upgraded versions of Nuance and SpeechWorks, media servers and conference bridge platforms dispersed on different hardware and different locations. This allows applications such as unified messaging, blast conferencing and Web content retrieval to be voice-enabled, integrated, deployed and managed through the SoftServer 2.3 platform.
In addition to new capabilities vis a vis start-of-speech, end-of-speech detection, and better operation in noisy wireless environments, it features International Language Support capability to simplify multilingual installation for speech recognition and TTS.
