Nokia Pushes Further Into Security Appliance Market

It seems that Nokia is targeting other growth areas beyond the cell phone market. Two key markets that they have picked out are networking and security appliances. They have supplemented their security products with the new Nokia IP710, a mid-range network security platform for enterprises and service providers.

The Nokia IP710 is a scalable product that provides throughput performance from 180 Mbps up to 700 Mbps. The appliance is NEBS III compliant and includes security software from Check Point Software Technologies. The system provides security feature such as:

• VPN-1
• FireWall-1
• Internet Security Systems (ISS)
