ADT Combines Home Control and Security

ADT Security Services, Inc. is launching the ADT Safewatch iCenter that blends security, home control, and Internet connectivity. The system is available in conjunction with ADT Home Security Service. Configuration, management, and remote monitoring are done through ADT's online Web service that is also included in the service package.

The iCenter activates or deactivates individual security zones and provides remote checking of home security status. It contains messaging features to retrieve phone messages and voice mail and record voicemail in multiple message boxes. The iCenter offers Internet connectivity to check weather, headline news, music, and horoscopes. Home control options, such as activation of indoor and outdoor lights or sprinkler systems, are also available.

The iCenter service is accessed through a graphical touch-screen management center. It serves as a home security, communications and connectivity control center. Personal "homepages" allow users to receive customized information and news content downloaded periodically from the Internet, including weather, sports, and headline news. While away from home, remote access to iCenter home security system is provided via ADT's Web site or over the phone.

iCenter is currently available for an initial customized installation fee and a monthly service fee for ADT's professional monitoring service.
