Transilica, Inc. is shrinking the requirements for Bluetooth with OneChip, a line of system-on-chip (SoC) devices for Bluetooth communications. OneChip technology is a CMOS based fully integrated SoC device for Bluetooth, a wireless communications standard for Personal Area Networks (PANs).

OneChip combines all Bluetooth components including the RF transceiver, baseband modem, microprocessor, SRAM, and flash memory into an eight-millimeter square BGA chip. OneChip supports serial port, USB, or Codec interface applications, depending on the software stack implementation. The small size of OneChip lowers the cost and power consumption.

OneChip line of SoC's include:

  • The TR1700 features a baseband modem, RS232, USB, Audio Codec, and USB interface.
  • The TR0740 includes the Bluetooth SoC, 32 programmable GPIOs, 2 SPI's, and dual high performance UARTs.
  • The TR0750 is a Bluetooth SoC with an internal audio Codec designed for short-range voice and data communications.

Transilica expects to reach volume production in Q4 2001, but is currently offering evaluation kits containing hardware, software, and documentation for $950.00.
