Advantage Database Server 6.0 for Developers

Advantage Database Server 6.0 from Extended Systems provides developers with a high-performance relational database server (RDBMS) without a high cost of ownership. Advantage 6.0 now includes complete referential integrity support, including primary/foreign key definition and cascaded updates and deletes. The new Advantage Extended Procedures provide easy-to-develop stored procedures that are executed at the server. Advantage Data Architect allows developers to import various table types such as Paradox, InterBase, Access, and SQL Server to Advantage compatible tables.

Advantage 6.0 is a client/server RDBMS for stand-alone, networked, Internet, and mobile database applications. Advantage 6.0 gives developers the flexibility to combine SQL statements and relational data access methods with the performance and control of navigational commands. The native development interfaces are designed to leverage existing knowledge of popular development tools. With optimized data access methodology, Advantage 6.0 provides security, stability, and data integrity and does not require a database administrator.

Advantage Database Server 6.0 also includes:

· Free application development tools (TDataSet Descendant, OLE DB Provider, ODBC Driver).

· The capability of scaling from local to peer-to-peer to client/server environments with no code changes necessary.

· Royalty-free distribution for local and peer-to-peer environments using the Advantage Local Server.

· Advantage TDataSet Descendant, which replaces the BDE for easy deployment and features native components parallel to TTable, TQuery, and TStoredProc.

· Advantage OLE DB Provider, available for ADO database access.

· Full server-based transaction processing, eliminating database corruption and reducing support costs.

· Field-level and record-level constraint support, which ensures new data is logically valid before flushing the updates to the database.

· Enhanced database security and encryption functionality.

· Low cost of ownership - no database administrator is required.

· Native SQL included in both Advantage Database Server and Advantage Local Server.

· Support for Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT/2000, and Novell NetWare networking environments.

Advantage Database Server 6.0 is available immediately. 30-day evaluation copies are available. Advantage Database Server 6.0 prices range from $249 for a two-user license to $7,495 for an unlimited-user license for Windows NT/2000 or NetWare. All pricing is for U.S. versions.
