Siemens' WP50 isn't a Web surfing device. It' a Web surfing kit. Not only will you get a ScreenPad, but you'll get the Top E514 base station, which will allow you to make your wireless connection to the Internet as convenient and painless as possible. The wireless range from this base station is approximately 40 meters indoors, or 250 meters if you're in the line of sight. ![]() Made for those that like to surf or read email, the WP50 has instant-on capabilities that will allow you to quickly access the Internet once you have the device turned on. Running on Windows CE 2.12, the WP50 comes pre-loaded with Internet Explorer 4.0 for Windows CE, and it supports POP3, SMTP, and IMAP4 email clients. And just for fun, it also is equipped with Pocket Word, PDF viewer, Pocket Paint, and the Jot handwriting recognition software. Because when you've got a touchscreen interface, handwriting recognition is the way to go. Which brings us to the screen. A high-resolution, flat touchscreen, the WP50 has an 8.4 inch 800 x 600 TFT display that shows off 16-bit color. And for your screen touching pleasure, you will be supplied with three stylus pens. Now it's down to the nitty-gritty of the ScreenPad WP50. It runs on a 200 MHz StrongARM 1110 processor, has 16 MB of Flash and 32 MB RAM memory, connects to other devices via a serial interface, has 64 kbits/s DECT capabilities, and uses an integrated lithium ion battery. This device, which comes in either silver or black, weighs about 2.1 lbs, or 950 g, and measures 7.1 x 10.2 x 1.2 in.
