Smartphones -- these are devices that usually have a better memory than you do, are definitely more organized, and can multitask without breaking a sweat. With these technological marvels, you can have a reminder pop up about your 2:00 conference call at 1:59 and still make it, even if you're stuck in your car or on the subway. And you won't have to worry about pulling out another device to execute the call. Your smartphone can do it all.
Treat the SPH-I300 from Samsung like a Palm PDA. Beam information to other devices using the IrDA port, set appointments, create to-do lists, change contact information, download emails, and record "notes to self." Equipped with 8 MB of memory, the SPH-I300 can easily sync up to your PC to retrieve the latest information, and still have a bit of room left should something change. But this is a smartphone, so let's not forget about the phone part. It works on the Sprint Network, so you should be able to get service wherever there are towers nearby. Plus, it operates on the dual band CDMA PCS 1900 MHz and Analog 800 MHz frequencies. Voice-activated dialing and speakerphone functions are available, too, so you can drive safely and talk to someone else while it appears as though you are talking to yourself. The top portion of the touchscreen panel is actually a LCD screen dedicated specifically to the phone functions. This screen will display incoming call information, signal strength, battery, and time/date. As for the rest of the touchscreen display, you will be feasting your eyes on a 160 x 240 pixel, 256 color with adjustable contrast and virtual key pad. Besides the touchscreen, you will be able to navigate using multi-functional keys. The SPH-I300 measures 4.9 x 2.28 x 0.82 inches and weighs 6 oz with the standard Lithium-Ion battery. Pricing and Availability The SPH-I300 is currently available from Samsung for $499.99.
