Palm m105

by Veronica Hendricks

The world in your hand. At a reasonable price. That's what Palm is trying to give you with the Palm m105. You're able to do the same things you usually do with a Palm device; create appointments, to-do lists, addresses, and use other Palm applications that are compatible with the PalmOS 3.5, but you can also get Internet browsing capability on this backlit device. The m105 ships with the Palm Mobile Internet Kit, a software package that lets you use the m105 in conjunction with a mobile phone or modem to wirelessly access the Internet.

With this connectivity, you can use Palm-compatible web-clipping technology to access content quickly, and even retrieve email using the Palm MultiMail software. If you're not too comfortable composing a full-fledged email message with the Graffiti handwriting recognition software, you can create short messages with the SMS protocol Palm has included. AOL for Palm OS is even in the box, in case AOL users would like to send Instant Messages while on the go. On top of this added connectivity, you'll get four times the memory that you're used to -- 8 whole MB.

If you're doing all of this email, Internet, and agenda-setting on the go, of course you're going to want to make sure your office PC gets updated as well. So Palm has created a new, more flashy, HotSync cradle to go with the m105. And if you're interested in flashy colors, as opposed to somber black, the faceplate is removable, so you can pick from between almost 20 different colors to personalize your m105.

All of these added features still come in the same 4.66 x 3.12 x 0.72 in, 4.4 oz package as before. The AAA battery is even still projected to last two months with normal use.

Pricing and Availability
